Ross’ newest project brings together rising drum talent Alex Goodyear and acclaimed double bassist Nick Kacal for an electrifying exploration of Cuba’s rich musical heritage, infused with the energy of fusion and Latin jazz. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Buena Vista Social Club, Alfredo Rodriguez, and Harold López-Nussa, the trio delivers vibrant rhythms, infectious grooves, and fiery improvisation that transport audiences straight to Havana.
Their debut performance at Kings Road Yard played to a sold-out crowd, with audiences singing, dancing, and fully immersed in the spirit of the music from start to finish. Combining virtuosic musicianship with an irresistible live energy, the group offers a fresh and exciting celebration of Latin jazz traditions with a modern twist.

This trio, comprising of the same musicians as LDR, focuses on Ross's original compositions from his debut album 'Three Elms' and other tunes that's inspired it. Comprising of a mix of contemporary and straight ahead Jazz, with some nods to the works of Tigran Hamasyan and Avishai Cohen in Hicks' original music, the Ross Hicks Trio balances lyrical melodies with adventurous rhythmic and harmonic textures. Their music moves fluidly between intricate interplay and spacious improvisation, creating performances that are both emotionally resonant and dynamically engaging. With a strong collective chemistry and a modern yet grounded sound, the trio continues to carve out a distinctive voice within today’s jazz scene.
